Registrations for the “Pesticide Risk Reduction Education” short course are now being accepted. This 2.5-day short course is intended for pesticide applicators studying for the Hawaii Department of Agriculture’s examination for certification to buy, use, or supervise the use of any “restricted use” pesticide in Hawaii. The UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources instructor will discuss proper storage, handling, application, and disposal of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other pesticides. The course will cover only the “core” study materials in the study packet. The packet’s “category-specific” materials also should be studied before attempting the exam. A packet of study materials may be purchased at any time either with or without registering for the short course, or may be downloaded free of charge from http://pestworld.stjohn.hawaii.edu/studypackets/spcatgor.html.
