his evenings’ featured speakers are Dennis & Luana Mitchell of The Fish Shack. Their presentation will focus on the Different Types of Waterlilies, their
Potting Methods, Planting Media, Pruning and Fertilizing. They will be able to also answer other pond related questions time permitting. We will have a few of their lilies as door prizes for the meeting.
Dennis & Luana started out in 1993 with Waiehu Fish Farm which became Hawaii’s largest indoor tropical fish hatchery specializing in ornamental fish for the aquarium trade. In 1996, they opened the original “Fish Shack” on Lower Main in Wailuku. In 2002, they moved into a 5000 sq ft building next door.
>Having made the decision to move entirely into the pond market, they located and moved into their new outdoor location at 70B Lono Ave. in Kahului in March of 2008.
This newest venture is primarily focused on servicing commercial accounts which include hotels, landscape businesses, pool builders, etc.

A brief presentation of services offered by the USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will also be presented by Ranae F. Ganske-Cerizo. The 2008 Farm Bill Programs are available to assist farmers, ranchers and nursery producers to improve the resources; soil, water, air, plants and animals on privately owned or leased land. In this time of drought and high production costs these program may be of help to you.
